Sailing School The sheltered waters inside Peterhead harbour provide an excellent place
for people to try their first steps dinghy sailing.
We launch our boats from a sandy beach into flat blue water.
Beginners will probably do most of their sailing within Peterhead Bay but
it may be possible to head for a trip out on to the north sea depending on the
conditions. Boats and Facilities At present the club has a fleet of optimists, toppers, wayfarers,
a
mirror
and a laser 13. We have a modern clubhouse with hot showers and good changing facilities. The clubhouse has a great view over the sailing area. Hot drinks are available. Wetsuits, buoyancy aids and cag tops are provided.
Students do need to bring a packed lunch, a towel and footwear that can
get wet – something like an old pair of trainers or wetsuit boots.
On cold days it is wise to bring warm layers such as a thermal top, hat
and perhaps waterproof trousers. There is an excellent cafe at the Heritage Centre, next door to the club, open for lunch Mondays to Fridays. For accommodation, there is a caravan and camping site in the dunes next to the club managed by Aberdeenshire Council, and there are many B&B's and guest houses within Peterhead. Our
