Racing 2010

At Peterhead Sailing Club we have an active race programme.  

Sunday Racing   (April - December)

Three races with the first start at 11.00am.   We run 4 series a year and also trophy races .

Friday Night Novice Racing   (May- August)

Friday night novice racing is now over for the Season.   Congratulations to Cameron Harris, winner for 2010.   Friday night Novice Racing will resume Mid May 2011.

Average Lap Scoring system 

Because of the wide range of boats sailed we use the average lap system.  This allows all boats to stay on the water for roughly the same time.  All boats sail round the course until the finish signal, the S flag, is hoisted. The finishing time for each boat at the end of the next full lap is logged to the nearest second.  The corrected time is then calculated by:

            Elapsed Time (seconds) x 1000

            Number of laps x Handicap (PY)
