Short Radio Course (inc VHF and GMDSS)

This course covers the use of VHF and DSC (Digital Selective Calling) procedures. Legally anyone using a VHF or DSC VHF must have a license to do so. We will cover conventional voice procedures and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System which uses digital signals to make contact. It is no longer possible to buy new fixed VHF's without DSC, so this certificate is more and more important.

People under 16 may attend this course, but the Authority to Operate will be post dated to their 16th birthday.

Full SRC Course

Cost £70 plus RYA exam fee (£30)

SRC1 Sat 24th March 2012 9.30am - 5pm

SRC2 Sun 17th June 2012 9.30am - 5pm

SRC3 Sat 10th November 2012 9.30am - 5pm

People who would like to convert an old VHF certificate into an SRC certificate on purchase of new equipment can do an evening conversion course.

Evening Conversion Course for VHF only certificate holders

Cost £40 plus RYA exam fee (£30).

ESRC2 Mon 26th March 2012 6pm - 9.30pm

ESRC3 Mon 18th June 2012 6pm - 9.30pm

ESRC3 Mon 12th November 2012 6pm - 9.30pm

The RYA Exam fee is currently £30, and needs to be paid on the day as either a cheque to the RYA or as cash. Students also need to bring a passport photo.
